This is a place you have to check out. Previously a butcher shop, the establishment was purchased by the owners of Bulls Head Public House and Lititz Springs Inn. With the change in ownership came the addition of a craft brewery. The brewmaster Josh demonstrates an amazing attention to his craft as is evident in the brews we sampled today. The tap list included a wide variety of selections with incredible depth of flavor. Each of the beers that I tasted paid appropriate homage to the style without going overboarding anyway. The attention paid to the food today was just as precise. The Korean meatballs appetizer was absolutely delicate and perfectly prepared, as was the chicken sandwich special which was a bacon chicken ranch today. The parmesan shoe string fries were also to die for. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy the food here. You won't be disappointed.
Made a reservation and got there on time (actually 15 minutes early) and still waited nearly 20-30 minutes past our reservation time for our table. The place is small so our group stood awkwardly with little room while waiting and other groups coming in and also piling up while waiting for their tables to turn.
Ordered cocktails at the bar while we waited and asked to close out before we got seated. One of our party members wanted to pay the whole tab before we got seated. The bartender pushed back that she was our server and would just transfer the drinks to our check. We insisted on paying and she pushed back again. It was really awkward and I had to assertively demand we were paying at the bar and not to transfer the bar tab. Really bad transaction and push on the part of the bartender. Horribly awkward. Why get pushy with a customer?
Food:
The steak was incredibly salty. Good seasoning blend but VERY salty. Asked for my filet rare and it came out a little closer to medium. Nobody asked us to check how they were done. Topped with horrendous crispy fried onions. They were blackened, burnt, and acidic bitter and truly unwelcome (see picture). The side of perogies were good.
My lady got steak frites. Hard cooked steak (well done when she asked for medium). Decent flavor but chewy from the heavy cook. Overly salted, and seemingly fried.
Appetizers:
The straight fries were over salted. Got a loaded fry with great meat but soggy fries underneath.
The brussel sprouts and meatballs were amazing. Kudos there.
Booze: the cocktails/mocktails were outstanding. The bourbon selection was dominated by PA distillers which are not my personal preference. Okay wine selection. Locally made rooster street brand/made beer.
Overall: bang for buck it wasn't worth it. Everything was pricier and most of the food I got or tried was outrageously salted. ROOSTER ST. USED TO BE OUTSTANDING when it was a neat little butcher shop. Not sure what happened.
The rest of our party was also bothered by the bartender interaction and awkwardness of trying to make room for the ever growing group of reservations showing up with tables not yet turned.
I was a big fan of Rooster street back before it became a hip restaurant. I'll likely not be returning.
First time here. Heard a lot of good things. Smaller than expected, unless it's just one or two people I'd recommend a reservation. Orders Korean bbq wings, beef burger, mocktail and Caesar salad. Wish the Korean bbq was a bit more spicy. But the Caesar salad was one of the best I've had and the rest was solid.
Nice, quaint bar/restaurant. Enjoyed their food & drinks. Friendly staff. I highly recommend this place. Parking can be a challenge, they do have a small lot behind the building. Be sure to check their days/hours they are open.
We stopped in for lunch right at 12. The place is well decorated. It could easily be a Pinterest backdrop.
By the time we got our food, every table was full and there were people at the bar. The servers paid attention to who was short on time and who has time to waste. (We were eating time, but other tables needed to get back to work on time.)
The sandwiches were all a straight $15 with a bit of greens. Adding fries is $5.
They make everything but the bread in house. All the sauces were great.
The smoked wings had a great sauce, but not much crunch.
The Roster chicken sandwich was tasty and messy- I was warned.
The special was a Reuben, it had a nice blend of flavors.
We went here at lunch time and it was packed. We have our baby with us and the lady told us the only available seat is at the bar (the table is too high for baby chair) or we can do take out. We asked if we can seat at the bar and if there will be tables that would be free if we can just move later on. The lady said "We don't do that, switching tables" We were both surprised by this response. She offered us to go get take out and informed us there are tables near the elementary school opposite to the restaurant and we can seat there. We were soooo not ready for this response either.
Because of the time restriction we opted to seat at the bar and where will just seat our baby in our lap while we eat. After we ordered we saw some tables getting free. The lady whom we had initial interaction with was setting a table with a high chair and we were like "I hope that's for us" and it was.
We ordered beef burger (nothing special about this) with plain shoestring fries and parmesan trufle shoestring fries (soggy fries) as sides. Pricey for the taste.
We interacted with a guy thay brought our check who was super friendly.
We were just so surprise with the initial conversation we had with the lady - why make it so complicated if in the end you will just offer it anyway, also I think this kind of interaction throws off customers. As a business this is a bad way to begin with. Building a good initial rapport with the customers is always the best way to entice anyone to buy your product.
Parking is kinda difficult to get into otherwise there is a street paid parking on the side of the restaurant which is full when we went.
Follow your nose to one of the best burgers you will have. This was our first time and will be going back to try the steaks.
Went for lunch during the 🔥 and 🧊 festival. It was busy but it didn't take long to get seated. Nicely decorated. Smaller interior but felt spacious enough with the layout.
Had the fancy burger minus the fried egg. The burger was enough flavor by itself. Every bite tasted better than the last.
We had a Butcher mule cocktail and the smokiness is something I have never tasted before in a mule. Perfection!
Wife and I had an absolutely outstanding lunch here today. First time visiting. I got the 12oz ribeye from the grill, rare, with truffle butter and crispy cauliflower as a side. Wife got the rooster chicken burger. We both loved the food and drinks. Absolutely amazing, will definitely be returning and definitely recommend 100%. We sat outside, perfect weather, perfect day, perfect lunch. Thank you, Rooster Street Butcher for the experience!
